7:30pm @The Troubadour Wednesday 30th May, tell ya friends :)

The Troubadour at 263-267 Old Brompton Road in Earls Court, established in 1954, is one of the last remaining coffee houses of its era in London, with a club room in the cellar famous as one of the primary venues of the British folk revival in the late 1950s and 1960s.

“Great musicians have technique and feel. One’s no good without the other. Sam has both and, if that’s not enough, he’s a good writer and a great singer who’s finding his own voice. Sometimes I think he’s got more talent than he can use. Watch this bloke.” John Schumann (ex Redgum - currently John Schumann & the Vagabond Crew)

Sam's story

Many years ago Sam Willoughby ran away from home to join a circus. He lived in a double-decker bus while performing four nights a week around Australia. Sam eventually came home but he left again to perform and record with some of the biggest names in Australian popular music including Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil), Shane Nicholson, John Schumann (ex Redgum) Huckleberry Swedes and Bill Chambers.

Ten years after his debut album,Naked Flame, Australian singer-songwriter Sam Willoughby has finished his second album,Things Fall Apart, a captivating acoustic-based collection of songs that explore rejuvenation, love, relationships and an attempt at a murder ballad.

Sam now lives in London and regularly busks in Covent Garden. He is preparing to record another album early next year.
